Adult Services & Resources - Adults can apply for provincial Disability Benefits. To find out more, please refer to the section of our website which has been dedicated to assisting adult individuals and parents of adult individuals in locating resources and services within the Province.

Family Independence Fund - The Family Independence Fund helps families with a child or adult that have a developmental disability living at home; they help fund renovations to homes, or modifications to vehicles... additional info to follow shortly.
What is the For? The grants from the Vancouver Foundation will cover:
- rennovations to your home to accomodate a relative with a developmental disability or special need
- purchase special equipment to provide more effective support
- to provide individuals and families assistance or training in converting services from the
current service delivery model to individualized funding
Examples include: to make changes to home for a person with a disability, eg: higher railings on stairs, build a fence in your yard, new fridge that can be locked, amend rooms to have doors, etc.
Who is Eligible:
- adults with developmental disabilities and their families
- families with children with special needs

 Federal Financial Assistance: the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) delivers programs that contribute to Canadians' economic and social well-being. In addition to the Child Tax Benefit, the Child Disability Benefit (CDB) is a monthly benefit providing financial assistance for qualified (low income) families caring for children with severe and prolonged mental or physical impairments.
